So we had to go a step further and stay on the island to live at its own pace with its welcoming inhabitants.
By coincidence, a few years ago, our daughter spent a few days in a charming hotel in Mahón... and it was Casa Alberti...
We've since spent more and more time in Mahón and learned that the owner of Casa Alberti wanted to sell the building, much to his regret, we understand.
Since then we've been spending more and more time on the island and learned that the owner of Casa Alberti wanted to transfer the building, much to his regret we understand. We immediately fell in love with this wonderful historic house in the heart of Mahón's old town. In one weekend we decided to become the new protectors of this unique place and maintain its hotel activity, first with an external management and then with an internal team dedicated exclusively to the hotel itself.
We decided to take over the management of the hotel.
Casa Alberti is now called Can Alberti, a family whose origins date back to Menorca in the 16th century.
The hotel was extended in 2017 when we had the opportunity to purchase an adjacent part of the building and restore the Palace, built in 1740, to its original state, offering 14 spacious and comfortable rooms, all fully restored in keeping with the original plan and spirit of the place.
The Alberti family have been the owners of Can Alberti since 1740.
The Alberti family has been a great lover of art and literature throughout the centuries. Therefore, we consider it our responsibility to protect this historic place and perpetuate its cultural and artistic tradition. We offer our walls to galleries wishing to exhibit Menorcan and European painters. We also organise concerts with renowned musicians and singers.
So the tradition at Can Alberti is both patrimonial and artistic. Something that we both appreciate very much.
